When it comes to getting a good night's sleep, there are countless apps and tools available to help you relax and drift off into dreamland. Two of the most popular sleep aid apps are Sleepiest and Calm, but how do they compare? In this article, we'll take a closer look at the features and effectiveness of these two apps to help you decide which one is right for you.

The Offerings of Sleepiest vs Calm

Sleepiest and Calm both include content to help you sleep; which is better very much depends on what you're aiming to get out of their offerings.

Calm was launched back in 2012 as a broad mental health app. Their offering focuses on audio content for a wide range of mental health issues, of which sleep is only a small part. If you're after a broad mental health tool, then Calm might be a good option for you as they have content able to support a wide range of mental health issues, which for the price is likely to work out cheaper than getting several individual apps targeting specific issues.

At the time of writing Calm release roughly up to 7 new bits of content each week on a range of mental health topics. Most of these are locked behind a premium subscription so it'll require some commitment; there is however a 7 day free trial available for new users.

Sleepiest is entirely focused on helping get you sleeping better, and falling asleep faster; so it's likely a better fit if your specifically looking for a tool to help aid your sleep... Sleepiest releases 10 bits of content each week, many of which are available for free (no subscription or trial required). There's also a free trial available to allow you to trial the wider premium content available as part of Sleepiest free for 7 days. Given the wide range of entirely free content however; it's quick and easy to try Sleepiest to see if it can help you without subscribing or making any commitment.

Sleepiest also offers the ability to passively track your sleep in addition to offering a wide range of sleep aid content, while Calm focuses purely on the content side of things. This is important as Sleepiest's sleep tracking functionality not only lets you see how Sleepiest is tangibly improving your sleep over time, but also as by combining the sleep aid content and sleep analysis within the one app, it allows Sleepiest's content to be developed and refined based on the measurable real-world improvement it's having to your sleep.

Sleepiest versus Calm, which is better?

The price

In terms of price, Calm's plans start at $69.99 per year or $14.99 per month. A 7 day free trial is available and the majority of the content requires you to be in a free trial or to have an active subscription in order to access it.

Sleepiest costs $49.99 per year, or $9.99 per month; so it is a little more affordable. A 7 day free trial is available to trial the full premium library, however we also put out a large amount of content entirely for free every week, so it requires a lesser commitment to get started and you can easily use Sleepiest entirely for free to help you sleep.

Ratings

Both Calm and Sleepiest both have millions of happy users with the vast majority of users rating both apps 5 stars. Both apps have a great UI, are well designed and feel great to use.

I cannot stress how much I love falling asleep to the stories on this app. I love fiction stories and this app absolutely has the best night time stories compared to Calm.

I have used Calm (another App) for a significant time and was finding that I had to pay a significant amount of money. I came across Sleepiest. I haven’t looked back since.
